As a parent, you want to give your child the best possible start in life and support them through their struggles. Life can be tough for all of us, but it hits harder when you witness your child struggling. You want to be there and help them through life and absorb as much of the difficulty as possible so your child can be at ease.

However, some struggle is necessary in building and teaching confidence and resilience. Giving your child the opportunity to figure some things out for themselves and not constantly hovering over them can go a long way in helping them develop into tough and persevering kids.

According to Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg, author of book titled “A Parent’s Guide to Building Resilience in Children and Teens: Giving Your Child Roots and Wings”, there are 7 C’s of building resilience in kids. They are as follows:

• Competence
• Confidence
• Connection
• Character
• Contribution
• Coping
• Control
