Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate of Expected Charges

Effective January 1, 2022, a ruling went into effect called the "No Surprises Act', which requires medical facilities and providers to present a "Good Faith Estimate" about potential costs that are incurred to any patient who is uninsured or who is insured but does not plan to use their insurance benefits to pay for the health care items and/or services. The "Good Faith Estimate" is based on information known at the time of the estimate was created. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unforeseen costs that may arise during treatment. While it is not possible for a provider to know, in advance, all services that will be appropriate for the treatment of a patient, an estimate of the cost of services provided will be given to you at least one day prior to your appointment. Your total cost of service will depend upon the complexity of a visit and additional screenings, diagnostic tests and special procedures that are performed during a visit. Any estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to obtain any services from the provider(s) listed, nor does it include any services rendered to you that are not identified here.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the office and choose option 7 to reach our billing specialists.
